Wood Cased Floor Radios
Welcome to this photo gallery. "PAA" means this radio was Photographed At Auction and is not in my collection. If a dollar value appears after PAA it means I noted what someone other than me paid for the radio. DEIL means Dominion Electrohome Industries Ltd. See NOTES under these pictures.

NOTES
May07 added RCA model A-31 and Westinghouse model 981. Had both in my collection for several years, just got around to photographing them now.
Mar07 added floor model Grimes model 465 "DICTATOR". Grimes eventually morphed into Dominion Electrohome Industries Ltd (DEIL). DEIL had a deal with Hudson's Bay Company to sell radios. In calling the radio a Hudson's Bay Dictator the radio is double branded. Selling radios was a competitive business. But it seems DEIL played both ends against the middle because several large chain stores used DEIL as their outsource for a number of brand name radios, radio-record players and TVs.
Feb07 added 9 radios since Oct06. Still working on Pat's Rogers floor radio.
Oct06 Heidi and I delivered Bev's 1938 Rogers 8R822 to her. "Finest radio in the Cariboo."
Feb05 I mistakenly thought there was only one "Dictator" radio when I found the larger floor model, Hudson's Bay Dictator (made by Dominion Electrohome Industries Ltd., for the Hudson's Bay Company department store) at Dorothy's Antiques near Hixon, BC. I was wrong. Shortly thereafter I found a smaller, Tombstone Grimes Dictator in an antique shop in Quesnel. Interestingly, both Dictators were found within 80 miles of each other in central British Columbia.
July02 Heidi and I picked up the RCA model 81 3jul02 in Clinton BC. The radio was out in 96 degree heat and sunshine! Seems to date from 1948 and must be an early FM set. Has cracked dial plate.
